MaineBlooms Flower share CSA

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Similar to produce CSAs, our farm friends typically reserve their flower shares in the winter/early spring before our growing season starts.

Your payment helps our farm purchase seeds and other growing supplies necessary for the year. In return for your investment, you receive farm-fresh sustainably grown flowers AND the satisfaction of knowing that companion bouquets will be donated, on your behalf, to local non-profits, first responders, medical professionals or teachers of your choice in-season.

Our goal is to spread more gratitude and more love through flowers and community connection.

  • Our flower CSAs are available to purchase in early winter through early spring, via our website or by messaging us at hello@marebrookfarm.com

  • The start date of your share, depends on which option you selected. Summer shares typically begin in mid-June or early July.

The exact start date is entirely weather dependent, since our ability to harvest early blooms is based on temperature.

You will receive an email update and an e-calendar invitation in May that will include your CSA start date and pickup (or delivery) details, as well as information related to the companion bouquets that we will donate on your behalf.

  • We will share your gorgeous blooms with you, based on the CSA option you reserved; specific details about when and where you can expect these seasonal beauties will be shared with CSA friends in May.

A majority of shares will be available for pick-up at Vessel & Vine in Brunswick, which will give you a chance to peruse the tasty provisions and beverages that this local treasure holds.

For an additional cost, you can choose local delivery. Please email us to learn more about these options.

  • Bouquets available for pick up presented as hand-tied, custom wrapped brown craft paper sleeves that can be recycled or composted. CSA flower deliveries are made in glass mason jars.

Previously used jars are collected upon each delivery and washed/sterilized on the farm for future CSA use.

    • Select a clean vase and add fresh water.

    • Cut ½ inch of stems using clean, sharp scissors before you place flowers in the vase (and every time you change the water).

    • Remove any leaves below the waterline.

    • Refresh the case water every two to three days

    • Keep flowers out of direct sunlight and away from heat and ripe produce

    • Compost your flowers after flowers begin to fade

  • Our bouquets typically last about seven days. Some varieties hold their beauty longer than others, so we encourage you to compost flowers that are fading and refresh the water in order to support your other blooms that are still thriving.

  • We completely understand and respect that life happens—especially during these COVID times—and you might miss a bouquet pick up.

In the event that you cannot make your pick-up, please email us at hello@marebrookfarm.com and we will do our best to determine next steps.

That being said, we greatly appreciate your commitment to picking up your bouquet at Vessel and Vine on your designated dates; they have generously volunteered their space to host our #MaineBlooms pick up and we want to make this flower sharing process as easy for them as possible.

  • You can send us your friend's or neighbor's address for the delivery of your bouquet*.

If you are not able to pick up let us know, and we will find a loving home for the bouquet to a person in need of some color and cheer!

  • Please let us know if you plan to be away for any of the dates that you would traditionally expect to receive your #MaineBlooms bouquets. If you’re out of town, we encourage you gift these flowers to a friend or neighbor to pick up and enjoy.

Extending CSA share dates can be tricky for us to manage given that our planting and harvest schedules are finalize in early spring, but please email us directly to determine so we can determine if we have the flower capacity to bring you equally beautiful blooms on a different date.

  • We do not offer refunds for CSA shares, but we would be happy to transfer the remaining portion of your share to someone else.

  • During the Maine farming season, we are fortunate enough to partner with several local retailers that carry our flower bouquets and cooking herbs. You can find the list of these exceptional small businesses here.

We also flower custom arrangements, offer bulk bloom buckets, culinary herbs, dried floral products, seasonal produce (e.g., garlic, tomatoes, decorative corn and pumpkins, squash, etc.) and holiday wreaths and centerpieces.

Please visit our Specialty Order section of our website for more details on our seasonal offerings.

  • As is the case with all farmers, our season depends entirely on Mother Nature.

While we strive to plan for every possible scenario—including extreme weather patterns that cause drought, hail, flooding, heavy winds—extreme weather can significantly impact our plants and planned harvests available for you.

Thanks to your CSA support, we’ve been able to invest in backup plans and equipment; we ask for your patience and understanding as you share in both the potential risks and beautiful bounty associated with farming.

We promise to do our best to anticipate severe weather conditions and protect the flowers any way we can.

  • Absolutely! We have printed gift certificates available for you to share with loved ones that offer the promise of the freshest seasonal flowers or farm products available.

We would be happy to send it on your behalf or arrange for a pick-up in greater Brunswick.
